Global Classroom Exchange Students Continue Making an Impact Around the World

At Kinara Park Kids, we believe every child has the potential to become a leader in their community and beyond. Through our Global Classroom Exchange (GCE), students are building friendships across continents while developing the character, literacy, leadership, and cultural understanding needed to thrive in an interconnected world.

Our Global Classroom Exchange is a collaborative initiative between Kinara Park Kids (United States), International African School (Netherlands), and our host classroom in Nairobi, Kenya. Together, we create learning experiences that encourage students to celebrate cultural diversity, strengthen academic skills, and develop confidence as global citizens.

Learning Beyond Borders

Students participating in the Global Classroom Exchange explore topics that connect classroom learning with real-world experiences. Lessons emphasize:

  • Character development through the Seven Principles of Kwanzaa
  • Social-emotional learning
  • Literacy and storytelling
  • African history and cultural studies
  • Swahili language and global communication
  • Leadership and community engagement

By learning with peers from different countries, students gain a broader understanding of the world while recognizing the value of their own identities and cultures.

Celebrating Student Achievement

Our students continue to inspire us with their creativity and commitment to serving others.

One of our high school participants recently earned a university scholarship after developing a peer mental health website designed to support fellow students. The project demonstrated the principle of Umoja (Unity) by creating a safe space where young people could connect, encourage one another, and seek support.

The same student also organized a community service drive benefiting women in a correctional facility, demonstrating Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility) through compassionate leadership and meaningful service.

These accomplishments remind us that education is most powerful when students apply what they learn to improve the lives of others.

A Commitment to Excellence

We are also proud to celebrate our school's First Place finish in a competition involving more than 390 schools. This recognition reflects the dedication of our students, families, educators, and community partners who continue to embrace leadership, collaboration, and lifelong learning.

International Recognition

The impact of our students reached the global stage when participants in our Global Classroom Exchange presented their work during an international conference hosted by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Korea.

Their presentation highlighted how culturally responsive education, literacy, social-emotional learning, and international collaboration empower young people to become confident leaders and engaged global citizens.

Following the conference, our work was selected for publication in a UNESCO newsletter, further recognizing the value of student-led international learning and cross-cultural collaboration.

Building Tomorrow's Leaders Today

At Kinara Park Kids, we know that education extends far beyond textbooks. When young people are encouraged to understand themselves, appreciate others, and serve their communities, they become the leaders our world needs.

We are grateful to every student, parent, educator, volunteer, and partner who makes this work possible. Together, we are creating opportunities that connect classrooms across continents and inspire the next generation of changemakers.

Our Kids. Our Community. Our Future.

Kwanzaa Every Day.
